PST on Used Vehicles

September 23, 2022

Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance collects PST on used vehicles, including private sales that are purchased for more than five thousand dollars. A private sale includes sales from one individual to another individual; an individual to a farm corporation; farm corporation to an individual; or farm corporation to a farm corporation. There are three ways to remit the PST payment to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance:

  • SGI can collect and remit the PST on your behalf when you register the vehicle for the first time at any SGI issuing office.
  • By filling out the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance form "Provincial Sales Tax - Casual Return" and mailing in the payment to their office
  • online by going to the Saskatchewan Etax Service or SETS
