IRE stands for Interprovincial Record Exchange (IRE). The IRE is used mainly for looking up driver records when someone moves from one province to another or from the USA to Canada and vice versa. An additional feature of the IRE is that it can also lookup vehicle records if it was previously registered in another province. Individuals or businesses cannot access the IRE; it can only be accessed by the government, government agencies, and government corporations like SGI.
